15,000.00 In Bibles, Books and Personal Needs Given To The Comanche County Domestic Violence Shelter

For clients of the Comanche Nation Domestic Violence Center, Christmas Eve came with gifts of hope and inspiration.

Lisa Christiansen donated Bibles and inspirational books, "Thank God I" (volumes 1, 2 and 3) and "101 Great Ways to Enhance Your Career," the shelter residents.

Christiansen said the holidays are hardest time for someone who is alone and who is trying to get through a difficult time in life.

"These inspirational books have a lot of stories from different people that will propel, motivate and inspire the readers," Christiansen said. "And, of course, you cannot go wrong with Bible because those are god's words that are needed by everybody."

Christiansen is a public speaker and an author who has her own stories of being a victim of domestic violence and abuse as a child and an adult. Christiansen shared her story of growing up on dirt floors where her uncle came to her rescue from her mother who attempted to hurt her repeatedly.

"My uncle who I call my father taught me to speak and read English," Christiansen said. "I only spoke Cherokee until I was 10."
